About Pacific Northwest Turtle Works

Pacific Northwest Turtle Works is actually the accomplishments of one man, Jerry Novak.  If you have to ask who Jerry Novak is than you probably aren’t from the Northwest or you’re new to Chelonians.  Known locally for his outstanding success at rehabilitating rescued animals and with his captive breeding of turtles and tortoises, (especially the more difficult to keep species) Jerry is somewhat famous in herpetological circles.

While Jerry isn’t a veterinarian and he has no formal training in medicine, his overwhelming success rate with rehabilitating sick and injured animals has even captured the attention of local exotic vets who have referred to him for consultation.  Why is Jerry is so good with turtles? A true naturalist at heart, Jerry attributes his success to dedicated field study, observing animals in the wild.  Simulating native habitat and food sources is the single most important husbandry technique he uses.  Followed closely by research, research, research! Over the years he has acquired his own personal technique for “Turtle Protocol” that differs from many published works or veterinary studies, but must be admired for its success at rearing healthy and happy animals for resale.    

Pacific Northwest Turtle Works carries vitamin supplements, food products, pond filters, and a limited supply of lighting and heating fixtures.  There are always in stock captive breed turtles and tortoises for sale.

Every year during the months of July through September there are hatchlings being born, therefore new stock coming of age to sale. This is a very busy time for Jerry and his volunteers at Pacific Northwest Turtle Works, so to free up as much time as possible for the animals; Jerry doesn’t want to waste time updating the website daily for stock on hand, he asks that you simply email for price & availability. There are almost always available mud, musk, wood, & map turtles. Less abundant, but still available are the box turtles & tortoises.  And who knows what might be available from the rehabilitated RESCUES.

Pacific Northwest Turtle Works can also build you a custom turtle pond.  Jerry has built both Indoor Ponds and Outdoor Ponds as Turtle enclosures.  A “contractor” by day, Jerry has built some beautiful custom ponds and enclosures.  Wheather you are building your own and have a few questions or if you just want one built for you, pnw turtleworks can help.

Jerry hopes to have some turnkey pond projects available in the future, but until then each pond will have to be bid (priced) individually.   Custom pond building isn’t priced just by dimension alone, it depends on how many of what kind of animal you’ll be housing, whether the pond will be indoor or outdoor, and other factors to determine the filtration system needed, and then there is the variable of esthetic materials chosen to build with.  All these options make up front pricing impossible.  Therefore, at this time, all custom ponds are bid on an individual basis.  See Photo Gallery 1 for photos of ponds currently in use at Pacific Northwest Turtle Works.
